Kicking Off Our 29th Annual Holiday Effort
Our 2025 Holiday Effort is Underway | Sponsor a Child Today!
Hello Friends and Family,
Welcome to the official Kick-Off of the 29th Annual Frank and Rosemary Iovieno Caring for Children Holiday Effort for 2025!
We are looking to build on another successful Holiday Effort last year, when numerous companies and individuals directly sponsored 850+ children, and we received a record-setting number of donations to help the children and families in additional ways, not only during the holiday season but also throughout the year.
Just a note… if you’d like to Sponsor A Child and be matched before Thanksgiving, kindly register by Wednesday, November 19th. However, the earlier the better, as always.
By sponsoring a child or children, you will receive a personal profile and story about the child(ren) to whom you are assigned, which has been written by the child’s social worker. The individual profile includes clothing sizes, special interests, and “special requests.” Sponsoring a child will require a minimum of $150-200 per child to ensure a level of equity between all the children within a family and across the program.
In addition to Sponsoring a Child, there are several other ways to help! Please see below for information on the various ways to participate in the Holiday Effort.
As announced earlier this year, the Wrapping Party will now be dedicated as The Leah Ellis Memorial Wrapping Party in honor of Leah Ellis, a strong and brave 12-year-old girl who lost her courageous battle with cancer in January. Leah and her family have been avid supporters of Caring for Children and the Holiday Effort for 15+ years, and Leah especially loved attending the Wrapping Party, which she equated with helping sick children, playing basketball, and eating awesome Christmas Cookies. Therefore, it seemed apropos to rename the Wrapping Party after Leah and how she inspired us in life and will continue to inspire us moving forward.
Thus, the Leah Ellis Memorial Wrapping Party (WP) will be on Sunday, December 14th at the Lexington High Field House.
Although attending the WP is the preferred method for delivering gifts, attending the WP is NOT required for participation; alternative plans can be made to deliver or mail gifts.
If anyone is interested in introducing the Caring for Children Holiday Effort to their company or a company they are affiliated with, please get in touch with me, and we can discuss and support that path.
Thank you in advance for your generosity in helping so many children and their families this holiday season.
Sincerely,
John

You can now register for our 29th Holiday Effort! There are four ways you can help.
- Sponsor a Child: Our most popular option allows you or a group to sponsor one or more children with clothing and gifts.
- Monetary Donation: Money will be used to provide for basic needs for these children and their families during the holidays and throughout the year.
- Gift Card Donation: We appreciate any type of gift card, but clothing and food store gift cards will meet our most urgent needs.
- Sponsor a Gift Basket: For those who want to help a child in need but have constraints on the amount of time to shop for a child.
We are happy to announce that this year’s Wrapping Party will be held on Sunday, December 14th, from 12pm to 4pm at the Lexington Field House on the campus of Lexington High, 251 Waltham Street, Lexington, MA. Attendance at the Wrapping Party is not a requirement for participation, as alternative plans for delivering the gifts can be made. All gifts should be dropped off by 3 PM to allow for registering and distributing the gifts properly.
This is a fantastic event for the whole family, where we wrap presents, socialize, and provide fun activities for the kids. Please visit our Gift Wrapping page for wrapping/tagging instructions and event updates as we gear up for a fun day for the whole family.
